Bilby Publishing is over 25 years old (can you believe it!) We are publishers, distributors and retailers of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) products including books, flashcards, games, posters, DVDs and teaching resources.
SignPlanet draws on all 25 years experience and the extensive knowledge and experience of our friends from all over Australia and New Zealand
All of our signs are illustrated by Lee Bilby, founder of Bilby Publishing. Lee has extensive numbers of deaf family members including a son who was born profoundly deaf and a younger son who was born mute. Both her children used Auslan as their first language.
Lee studied Auslan first at Monnington (in Melbourne) then at Latrobe university.
To the best of our research Lee is the only person to publish a Lexicological study into Auslan (why are the signs what they are and the evolution of the language). She has spent the greater part of the last 25 years researching and documenting Auslan, its history and its evolution to its current form.
We work closely with NATTI certified interpreters, CODA POD, Teachers of the Deaf, and before they closed down, all of the Deaf Societies around Australia
