Again this publication resulted from national consultation with both the deaf community and their hearing teachers; resulting in an additional 560 signs.
At the time it was thought that adding ‘Signed English’ signs to assist English literacy was advantageous and desirable. Many of these signs have since been adopted by the deaf community and others have disappeared from use.
